Summary
In 1972 cycling enthusiast Michael Zane came up with a revolutionary idea for a bicycle lock. With his brother and father, he designed the-award winning K-4 lock and the Kryptonite Company was formed. The company guaranteed the security of its lock against bicycle theft, and later developed a motorcycle security device and a special device for mountain bikes. Kryptonite's success continued, and the U-shaped lock was often imitated. In addition to making multiple improvements to its bicycle locks, the company added laptop computer security devices to its product offerings. The Kryptonite bicycle lock is still the most popular on the market. The papers of the company that designed, developed and manufactured a revolutionary bicycle lock. The papers include advertisements, correspondence, awards and publicity materials, photographs, product testing results, and information on sales and volume.
