Coe and the gilding wheel; Reuben Schailer who acquired 17 patents between 1848 and 1873, the most notable of which was the underground scale patented in 1865; J. Frank Duryea and the first American automobile which won the Chicago-Evanston auto race in 1895; and nine other names listed in patent records. Includes photocopy of photograph of J.
